We got our new 37" TV last week....it stands preety in our living room....minus the mess on the floor...

Dreaming by the window

When I was a little girl at my parents home - I used to waste lots of time siting on the couch and staring out to the streets - day dreaming. I can't remember what I used to dream about - must have been about boys!! It was always sweet dreams but there were also times I have shed tears staring out....Oh those were the days when you are a teenager where you smile, cry and even talk to ourself worrying our parents.........
Just thinking about those days - I tried to find interesting window corners...

The Handy Bed

Charpoys are an ancient furniture style still used extensively today in the Indian sub-continent. And so charpoys, like Indian travelers, have landed on many shores. In Malaysia, it was mainly the Sikhs who used them. A typically nostalgic memory commonly held by many Malaysians, is of a burly Sikh security guard lying on his charpoy on the five foot path that runs along shopfronts. In the morning, he would either have a place to stand the charpoy up against the wall or he would carry it off. My hubby says the high school care taker (aged old sikh used to have one in his resthouse in the school compound)

My grandpa's house in India, had one right outside the house and when I used to visit - I will sit there and enjoy my blueberries which grew right above the tree. It was a pleasure. Love to get one for my next home.

In and Out of Bottles

Just like Arch, I too love collecting bottles....and on one of my shelfs in the kitchen this stands...

( some layered coloured sand, hand-painted wine bottle, preserved cut fruits)

Simply Yellow....

I have mostly greens in my front garden. I never could maintain flowery plants....but my maid has been insisting I get some cause she enjoys gardening. So few days ago I got two pots....one has red flower and the other yellow...

I love this colour - along with all bright colours.

Mua Kitchen

This is how my kitchen looks like. The display light on the left cabinet gave-up on me - just when I took this shot... I have another wash basin on the right facing the tiny clothes drier area with a pair of windows of course.
Since there is lots of place in the centre - we were thinking of an island sometime last year but opted out since we are planning to move to a bigger place by end of next year...if luck is on our side.

For now - I like my kitchen. But my vision of a new kitchen is going to be White cabinets, with dark brown top and dark flooring( I would love dark timber - but not sure if it is advisable with Malaysian kinda cooking and weather.

The picture below is nice - I enjoy a big kitchen (I have two toddlers!!) with a view of the garden. Must have lots of light unlike my current home. However I may need more cabinets and I am not a fan of a plane ceiling. There will be some down lights with some hanging ones. And my cabinet top will be dark wood colour and the flooring has to change too.

I like the idea of those cabinet lights hitting on the floor.
